Aviametrix, LLC has created a set of iOS Apps for Archaeologists, students (at all levels) and archaeology Aficionados and Enthusiasts.
Our offerings include self-contained Translators of Ancient Egyptian, Flash Card Apps to learn Hieroglyphs and Hieratic, and pocket references for the Pharaohs and Queens of Egypt.
These Apps have built-in databases of names and titles, hieroglyphic cartouches, dates, capitals, etc. Because the data is built-in, the Apps work fine in the field, even in Pyramids and other tombs! They also work fine in museums with little or no Cell data or WiFi. When internet access is available, the apps link directly to the Wikipedia biographies and to Peter Lundström's excellent Pharaoh.se professional titular & references site.
Our flagship offering is Hieroglyph Pro, now available in both mobile (iOS) and desktop (MacOS) versions. Hieroglyph Pro is a self-contained translator of Ancient Egyptian to English and back. It features several innovative, easy ways to enter glyphs. The App is frequently updated and new features added.
Our latest app is the Universal Hieroglyph Translator! UHT features the same acclaimed Dictionary and hieroglyph database as Hieroglyph Pro. It accepts Egyptian words in any combination of Gardiner codes or Manuel de Codage strings, provides translation into any of 59 modern languages!
Hieroglyph Flashcards (available for both iOS and Apple Watch) is a fun way to learn the basics of Ancient Egyptian. The iOS version of Flashcards has 13 decks of card covering the basic alphabet, through phonograms, logograms, and determinatives, Cartouches of 238 Pharaohs, deities, titles, locations, etc! We also offer a flashcard app to learn basic Hieratic writing, the everyday form of cursive handwriting.
Hieroglyph Sketch is our latest tool to simplify working with hieroglyphs. This helps identify glyphs from rough tracings. It uses a powerful artificial intelligence engine created by Aviametrix.
Egyptian Art Puzzles is a new game combining action and jigsaw puzzles with over 100 works of Ancient Egyptian art. Both well known and rarely seen artwork is featured. The goal of the game is to get a flying scarab to knock over jars and collect jigsaw pieces until the puzzle is complete.Ascending levels of play gets progressively more challenging with more puzzle pieces, Pyramid obstacles, roving crocodiles, etc.
At Aviametrix, we have a strict Privacy Policy. We do not collect or sell any personal information about or customers! We do, in some apps, collect crash data and usage patterns to discover how to improve the apps and increase their value to our customers. None of that data is linked to personal identity.
